On the 9th January, 1999, I went to a late New Year party. I spotted a tall gentleman across a room, leaning on a bar and thought how handsome he was.
Little did I realise that 37 days later, we would be engaged!
We were seated next to each other at dinner and he said, “I would like to try white water rafting.”
“I am the white water rafting QUEEN!” I told him. At that point, I had rafted some of the world’s biggest white water rivers on five continents.

This is me rafting the Zambezi in Africa – I’m back left on the first photo and somewhere underwater on the second…
37 weeks later, we were married and spent our honeymoon in Costa Rica – where we did a bit of rafting and met a guy who recommended some amazing whitewater descents in Colorado, USA, which is where we went for our holidays the following year!
We’ve had a few adventures since then…
Clearly, Mark and I have a lot in common. For example, our lovely moustaches…

We both look good in rubber!

And do whatever this is!

Our marriage started on the rocks – outside a Scottish lighthouse…

But don’t let that fool you. Don’t mess with us!

We quit work and bought four dogs…

And a caravan!
Then we decided to live in it full time and go touring…

Here we are joining the mile high club on the Transfăgărășan in Romania: one of the world’s most dangerous roads

THANK YOU, MARK – IT’S BEEN A BLAST
“Life is too short for anything but a wild ride!”
Me!

I’ve written eight comic memoirs about life since Mark and I gave up work and hit the road with our four dogs. My first series is called Adventure Caravanning With Dogs, because it’s caravanning – but not as you know it! As mentioned above, our aim was to Boldly Go Where No Van Has Gone Before – which included towing along a footpath and over two cornfields in Romania, as well as crossing the Carpathian Mountains on one of the world’s most dangerous roads.
The Wayeard Truck series chronicles our life since we bought The Beast, a 24.5-tonne ex-army truck blind off the internet and converted it into an off-grid home-on-wheels fit for a trip to Mongolia.
Although each is a standalone tale, they are chronological in time.

Five of the Craziest Things I’ve Done – Adventure Author Jacqueline Lambert
A friend of mine, award-winning children’s writer, Maximilian Sam, once posted on his blog about the power of words and mentioned my new book, Building The Beast: How (Not) To Build An Overland Truck. I was a bit taken aback that he titled the paragraph about our decision to buy a 24.5-tonne truck blind off…
